Do you wish you were more able to improvise food creations without recipes?
The authors wrote Culinary Artistry with this idea in mind. Their premise is that when you are aware of food flavors and how well they pair together with other foods, then you can be more creative and have to rely less on a recipe and more on your imagination and taste buds to create dishes. In addition to lists of flavors can be paired and go well together, it contains interviews with expert chefs and the inspiration for their cuisines.
Do you have a favorite go-to ingredient to improvise a flavorful meal?
Try marinated artichoke hearts. This product is excellent on its own, but chopped or pureed into other recipes works very well because it contains a great combination of ingredients that give dishes a great depth of flavor. It can be added to a party dip recipe, used to create a fresh greek inspired meal , or it can be added to add complexity to a favorite soup. Here is one of our recipes with marinated artichoke hearts
Try Spanish Smoked Paprika. What is paprika, anyway? Paprika is a powdered spice made from sweet or chili peppers or a combination of these that are dried and ground, and in the case of the smoked paprika, smoked over oak during the drying process.
It is said that Paprika originated in the Americas, and was introduced to Spain before reaching other parts of the world.
Paprika is a prominent spice in Hungarian cuisine, as it is considered Hungary’s national spice. Spain is another country where paprika is cultivated, processed and exported, and although not necessarily claimed as their national spice, Spaniards take their paprika very seriously. So much so, that there is a certification system for Paprika, according to its region of origin, similar to the system used for olive oil and other premium products.
I did not research the specifics as to where the best paprika comes from, or where this particular brand fits in the grand scheme of Spanish paprika, but let me tell you, this Spanish Smoked Paprika is super delicious!
Do you own a pressure cooker?
I received a pressure cooker as a Christmas Gift but I was scared to use it. My husband took over the preparation of pressure cooked meals. He has used it quite a bit and has got it well figured out. He started by following recipes designed for pressure cookers, but now creates his own.
The most important aspects of operating a pressure cooker are monitoring the timer closely and killing the heat at the end of the timer according to the recipe. Another important consideration is the understanding of the water levels required according to the recipe ingredients.
Having one of these is very appealing because they are great time savers in the kitchen, and overall, a great investment.
You can save even more time when you decide to cook two meals at the same time. One on the stove and one in the pressure cooker. One can be served immediately and the other programmed for the following day or later in the week. How fantastic is that?

HAVE YOU FOUND A SUGARLESS CEREAL?
It took me a long time to find a cereal that contained zero sugar, but a couple of years ago I found this one, and actually, I have not come across another one since.
I like all of its ingredients, and I find that after eating it for breakfast, it is very satisfying and filling. This can be eaten alone, but if you can’t do without a little sugar, you can add some fruit.
Earnest Eats happens to be vegan and gluten free, which is not what I was looking for, but it is great because it contains quality ingredients.
This product is now available at my local grocery store but only because I approached one of the directors and made a request for them to carry it. The space allotted for it is minimal and at times they run out, but I’m not worried, as I know I can order it on line.
If you are looking to add a quality cereal to your breakfast selection, consider adding this delicious and nutritious cereal that is super easy to prepare.
