Quick and Simple Cherry Dessert
So my husband has a sweet tooth, but unfortunately for him, I do not bake for him often. I do not want to bake in order to minimize the amount of sugar I eat, because if I bake it, I will help him eat it, and with only two of us at home, we would just eat too much.
Honestly though, I also don’t bake desserts often because the truly delicious recipes that he enjoys eating take too way too long to prepare.
I am primarily talking about desserts for ordinary days, not for parties or celebrations.
These are not good enough excuses for him, so I am always trying to invent alternative recipes that will please him, but that are a little bit healthier and take less time to prepare.
I came up with this supper easy recipe that he actually enjoys eating. It has three ingredients, and takes 5 minutes to prepare. The recipe is for one serving.
3/4 tbsp – 1 tbsp dark chocolate mini morsels or 1 oz of any other type of dark chocolate
4 Gamesa Brand Marias Mexican cookies
- In a glass individual serving bowl place clean stemmed cherries, crumbled Marias and chocolate morsels.
- Microwave bowl for 20 seconds. Wait a few seconds and microwave again for 20 seconds.
- Remove from microwave, mix well and allow to cool down for a minute or two.
- Enjoy cherries slowly, being careful not to swallow the pit, or break a tooth.
If you do not want to deal with the cherry pits as you eat, you can cut the cherries and remove them prior to heating, but you would no longer have a five minute dessert. I think that leaving them in, forces us to enjoy the dessert at a slower pace, which is how we are supposed to eat our food anyway.
For this easy and quick dessert, you can substitute the cherries for blueberries or strawberries, or you can try it with a combination of berries.
